Dear Camp Families,
We hope this message finds you well during these difficult times. We understand that you, like Leigh and I, have been spending the last couple months family-focused, making sure the kids are OK at home, and have most certainly not given much thought to summer camps. Nonetheless, we did think it was about time to give at least some kind of update, seeing that, in normal times, we generally announce our dates during the month of April.
Unfortunately, the only update we can give at this point is that we just don’t know. At this time, we don’t know if these kinds of gatherings will be allowed by the state, or our localities, this summer. We also don’t know if our facility partners will be available this summer due to Covid-19. As we know you are as well, we are intently watching the updates. In order for us to conduct camps this summer, we will need to know they are allowed, that our facilities have become available, and most importantly, that they can safely be conducted. Our first concern is always the safety of our campers, and in the day and age of Covid-19, their families by extension. As someone who has respiratory issues that put me in the high-risk category for this virus, I am hyper aware of everyone’s concern for a safe environment.
At this point, it’s safe to say that there will be at least some sort of disruption in our camps this summer. At the very least, camp dates will be announced very late, and possibly last minute. At worst, we will have to put our camps on pause this summer and pick up again for our Holiday Hitting Clinics, or next summer. Given the severe uncertainty of the environment surrounding the summer of 2020, Leigh and I feel that it is too premature either to announce dates or to cancel camps at this time.
This time of year has always been a time of excitement for our family. As we see camp registrations roll in, we are always filled with happy anticipation because we know we’re going to get to see our campers and their families soon. Many of those campers we have literally watched grow up over several camp seasons. While the only certainty about this summer is uncertainty, you can be certain of one thing: We will be back at some point. Your kids and your families have provided too much joy to our family to stop doing camps.
From the Flynn family to yours, stay safe, stay healthy, and we’ll see you soon.
